The York Dungeon brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages and scenes. You'll get to walk through 10 live actor shows, telling the story of 2000 years of York's dark history meeting famous characters from York's dark past including Vikings, Isabella Billington and Guy Fawkes!
It is a highly sensory experience with dark spaces, jump scares, loud noises, flashing/strobe lights, pungent smells, water sprays, air blasts and jump scares. Our guests also have the opportunity through random selection to become part of the show.

Once a bustling corner of Victorian York, Bedern is now a place the locals avoid—a warren of crumbling alleys, creeping shadows, and a stench that clings to your skin. Once filled with laughter, life, and the clatter of market carts, now all that remains is rot, rats… and something far more sinister.
The cleaver’s still warm, and the stench of raw meat thick in the air. But this isn’t just any butcher. Meet The Butcher of Bedern—a man with a twisted grin and a taste for more than a joint of meat.
Shoulder or leg—which will you choose? But beware… not all the meat on offer comes from the abattoir. Whispers speak of missing beggars, runaway children, and meat with an unusually tender bite.
Will you uncover the horrifying truth behind the butcher’s bloodied apron… or become part of the next batch?
This isn’t just a history lesson—it’s a slice of pure Victorian terror. Are you brave enough to face the Butcher of Bedern?

Your voucher code entitles you to entry to the standard York Dungeon tour, with tour departure date and time selected when you redeem your voucher.
This voucher is not valid for the York Dungeon Lates or the Little Peasants Walking Tour.

Each voucher code can be used for an Adult (16+) or a Child (5-15).
Voucher must be used online to make booking. Vouchers cannot be processed in person at our admissions desk.
Once you have redeemed your voucher, you can reschedule your tickets for free if your plans change
Guests aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult, aged 18+
Guests aged 16 or 17 year olds must bring proof of their age in the form of ID or a parent/guardian letter
The experience is not recommended for children under 8 years old
Children under 5 years are not permitted within the Dungeon
It does get very dark inside and there are lots of loud noises. Please be aware if you need to leave the attraction during a tour, unfortunately, your ticket(s) will be non-refundable.
