The National Trust’s Middlethorpe Hall & Spa, is a grade II* listed building set within 20 acres of its own gardens and parkland. It is situated only 1 mile ½ from the centre of the historic City of York, opposite York Race course along the road towards Bishopthorpe.
It is easily accessible from the City centre or from the A64, is both on a bus (number 11) and a cycle routes, and has large free parking.
After a period of neglect in the 1970s when the Hall was used as ‘Brummels’ night club, it was acquired in 1980 by Historic House Hotels and was sympathetically restored and decorated with furniture, pictures and painting in keeping with the style of the house.
This luxury hotel which celebrated the 40thanniversary of its opening this year has 29 traditional well-appointed bedrooms located in the historic Hall and in its adjoining courtyard.
The oak panelled fine-dining restaurant at Middlethorpe Hall open also to non-resident guests for weekend luncheons, traditional Afternoon Teas and dinners daily. The long-standing Kitchen Team led by Head Chef Ashley Binder prides itself in serving some of the best in-season, fresh, locally sourced food. Professional friendly service is provided by Liam Warwick and his team.
There is also a boutique spa on site, which contains a large indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna, spa bath as well as a gymnasium. Local Membership is available and includes Aqua-fit sessions and the services of a personal trainer.
